Hurricane Survivors
Got back into town last night from a weekend get-a-way. I have learned that some of the evacuees (I refuse to call them refugees) are in Austin - - some 5,000 persons! That gives me an opportunity to extend a helping hand, so this weekend me and a friend of mine have plans to do whatever we can. What makes this unique? My friend is herself a New Orleans evacuee, who lost her house and all of her possessions and is living with her sister here in Austin. She is extending a helping hand, and she has lost everything as well! What an amazing woman! She is an inspiration........

God bless your efforts to help. Sorry for the loss your friend has suffered. We can learn a lot from her attitude. She is truly an inspiration.
i can't even imagine what katrina has done and all the lives that are totally and drastically changed from it. i can't even watch the news because it's so unbearable to watch. but it is inspirational to hear the stories of strength and hope - the ones that can only come from adversity. still praying!
